Polka Dot Mini Canvas Art
Learn how to mix vibrant color with texture and various mixed media techniques. These would be really sweet little housewarming or holiday gifts, and the best part is that you can make a set in any color palette you’d like!
Scribble a heavy layer of Gelatos pigment all over both canvases. Rub it in firmly with your fingers, and then use a paper towel or cloth to lift off excess color.
Water down a little bit of pigment, and add it to a misting spray bottle. Spray it all over the canvases for some fun color and texture.
Rinse out your bottle, and do it all again with another couple colors, letting the color build up differently in different areas.
You can use your fingers or a sponge to move the color around and blend it if you want.
Let it dry, or hit it with a hair dryer to speed the process along.
Punch holes in a cereal box or some cardstock to create a polka dot pattern.
Place the "stencil" on a canvas, and use an old plastic gift card to spread some whipped spackle onto it. Spread it into the holes, and then lift off the stencil.
Let it dry.
Brush some decoupage medium onto the canvas, and lay a tissue circle or piece of tissue confetti onto the canvas. Very gently brush back over it with more decoupage medium.
Add a few more pieces on the canvases, and then brush over the entire thing with more decoupage medium to seal it up.
