Drywall paper peeling

I have a storage room, which was used by a previous owner as some sort of music studio. They put thick black foam against the drywall with some construction adhesive. It was a fun job getting all that foam and construction adhesive off the walls, but now I have drywalls with pieces of the paper peeling off cause of the foam/adhesive removal. It's still a storage room for garden equipment etc., and it doesn't need to be perfect, but a more finished wall would be nice. Obviously I cant just paint it with the bits of paper rolling up. How do I go about this? Thanks for your help!
