We used a wonderful product called DumaWall. It's a PVC tile that clicks together designed especially for shower walls.
Hi Rebecca,
If you have vinyl walls that won't come clean, it might be possible to paint them. There are epoxy paints available specifically made for bathroom tile. Homax and Rustoleum both have kits that contain pretty much what you need. I'd research those products to see if they will work. Wishing you the best.
