it will work. score it with a wallpaper scoring palm score pad..and use a wallpaper steamer paper remover, it will be slow but it will soften it enough to peel oof, small portion at a time, tedious but it will work and with patience, then fill in all the imperfection nicks and holes, sand it and prime and paint.

Start with a paint tray, a roller with a long handle. Purchase a large putty knife. Next put real warm water, not hot into paint tray. Roll the roller part in the water. Now roll the wall one section at a time. Let the water penetrate the wallpaper, now scrape with the putty knife, from the bottom up. Next you'll need to wash the glue off the walls. Then get a bucket with warm water. and a large sponge. Soak the sponge, then squeeze out excess water and rub the glue. Keep cleaning the sponge before you do the next part. When the bucket gets a little dirty, empty and fill again. Make sure the walls are completely dry before you either paint or wallpaper.

definitely, score the paper, and here is a homemade paper remover that has gotten good reviews online: ⅓ cup of lemon juice, 2 cups white vinegar, 2 cups water. Put into a spray bottle. As Vic said, take your time

    steam n scrape

  • Your success really depends on how old the walls are, how many coats of paint are there, what's underneath...plaster or sheetrock. Our home is from the 1920s and we were told to be prepared to need to replace all the sheetrock. So we just painted over it again with flat paint. You can't even tell there was wallpaper there.
