Hi Paul, I've never done it, but this post may help you out. It does reference plaster board. https://www.gowallpaper.co.uk/news-and-advice/how-to-remove-woodchip-wallpaper-from-walls-ceilings-easily/
You could try a steamer to remove the wallpaper Paul. If the plasterboard was not prepared properly before the wallpaper was installed it will be hard to get the wallpaper off without damaging the wall. Sometimes it is nearly impossible. You can do a skim coat over the wallpaper or you can apply another wall covering like beadboard, paneling, or shiplap.
Score and steam. You have to expect some minor damage any time you remove wallpaper. See if this helps you.

You can rent a steamer from any tool supply.
Thank you for your help.
I wish you well on this project, but I dealt with the same problem--the wallpaper had been pasted directly to bare, unpainted wallboard. Wetting or steaming the wallpaper damaged the paper coating on the wallboard. We ended up replacing the wallboard.
Thank you I was hoping not having to replace the plasterboard. Time to get on with the job.
