If it is old mirrors, you can chalk paint with blackboard paint which is different from the chalk paint for furniture and turn into message boards or trays.

If you are talking about fixing mirrors rather than their frames, it can be a simple process. Mirrors are glass with a silver or aluminum coating on the back side that is then protected by a waterproof paint, and you used to have to find a specialty business to repair scratches. Both Krylon and Rust-Oleum have a mirror-effect spray paint that goes on the back side of whatever you want to mirror. You can fix the original finish that may have been scratched or rubbed off. Just make sure to clean off any dust or fingerprints before painting.

Depends on what the problem is that requires restoration. If moisture has tarnished the silver backing and turned it black, you need a professional re-silvering and that's expensive. In my experience with mirror-like spray paints, they aren't up to fixing that kind of problem. Minor scratches are a different matter. Spray paint won't produce the optical clarity of the original backing but that's not likely to be too noticeable if scratches are small. But if you have black around the edges and don't want to re-silver, adding a frame to cover the damage is the only option I know if you want the object to remain a mirror.
