I was so shocked to see these wooden window frames in my parent's barn! After leaving them just sit for awhile I decided to repurpose and have them become picture frames. There are crayon and marker lines on them. I just LOVE the character it brings!

Before

Since these frames were sitting out in a barn for who knows how many years, I took dawn dish soap and gave them a good scrub then sprayed them with a water hose. Finally, l let them dry in the sun.

Measure the Openings

Measure the opening to see what size each divider is. I was pleasantly surprised to find it to be four 8" by 10" openings. If your openings are standard size, congrats!!!

Measure Full Interior

I have seen where a person will put one large photograph in. If you do decide to do one large picture make sure to measure the full opening.

Add Glass

Next, buy the cheapest picture frame you can. Mine were close to a $1!!! Take the glass out of the new frame and sit it in the barn window. Get a cardboard box and cut out 8" by 10" or whatever the size of your openings are.

Add your photograph

I made sure all my pictures blended together. For example, all black & white or color, all same orientation, and similar distance from the camera

Layers

The layers are glass, photography, and cardboard back.

Add Nail

Take finishing nails and hammer into the side so the cardboard stays in place. Make sure the nail is horizontal so it does not scratch your wall.

Add Felt Pad

Add felt pads to protect the paint on your walls. My frames lay up against the wall but if hanging on the wall, there are different options. One is to tie wire around drilled in screws. Another is to buy a bracket and hammer small nails in the sides.

Now you have a picture frame that is oosing with character
