Rustic Plank Wood Heart

I've never really decorated for Valentine's day, but now that I have kids, I think I need to try to be a little more positive about this holiday. I've brought in a couple of easy decorations this year made with supplies I had around the house.
I picked up some old barn wood from a barn sale and it was the perfect color to add some Valentine's decor to my home.
I used my Kreg Jig to drill holes into each plank,

and then screwed self drilling screws into each hole.
I traced a heart on the board and then cut it out with a jigsaw.
I used a chalk image transfer method to get my design on the wood, and then I traced over it with paint marker.
It was overall pretty easy to make and didn't take much time at all.

I love to decorate for every holiday with stuff I have lying around the house or would otherwise be throw away. Head on over to check out more details on this post, or lots of other upcycled holiday decor ideas.
