Scrabble Tile Wall Art

Just about everyone has an old Scrabble game hiding in a closet somewhere. If you are not going to play the game, then why not upcycle the pieces into beautiful, customizable wall art?

Gather Supplies Around the Home

Chances are, you might have everything you already need to make this upcycled craft. It's amazing what you can make with things you already have!

P.S. We LOVE upcycling! Check out how we turned an oatmeal container into a plastic bag holder.

Choose Your Words First!

Before you start working, decide on the words you want to use in your craft. We used uplifting words that would work for gifting to someone inspirational in your life.

Sketch out the placement to be sure it will fit within the measurements of the frame.

Then transfer the sketch onto parchment paper or other paper.

Supply List

Here's what you'll need.

  • Upcycled picture frame (without glass)
  • Upcycled canvas to fit frame
  • Scrabble tiles
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue Gun
  • Pencil
  • A ruler
  • Embellishments if desired
Step 1: Paint

Paint your canvas with the acrylic paint. Allow to dry completely.

Apply one more coat and allow to dry at least an hour.

Alternatively, you could use cardboard if you don't have a canvas. I'd wrap it in gift wrap or decorative paper. Or attach fabric with glue.

Step 2: Glue the Tiles

Lay your paper on your dry canvas. This will help you line up your scrabble tiles and get an idea where you need to place them. If you need to, lightly draw lines with your pencil.

Glue on your tiles.

Step 3: Add Fun Embellishments

If you want, grab a few leftover embellishments from your craft bin to decorate your canvas. Using your glue gun, attach the canvas to the frame.

You're Done!

All that's left is to hang your frame (or put on a table top) and enjoy!

This is a great sentimental gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day, graduation, birthdays and Christmas.

We love that you can customize the sentiment with whatever words or feelings you have for the gift recipient.
