So in July we are moving our antiques and repurposed furniture into a new booth inside a Mall with 60 other dealers. While we have been at different places before, this one encouraged a more high end design and feel to it. The lighting is great and I have 7 electric outlets to work with. I got great feedback from HomeTalk when I posted a question asking for ideas. Thanks Gang. The first problem to solve was what kind of sign will grab peoples attention.

For my sign I wanted something that would stand out. In my garage I had two 7 foot, ten inch wide bed rails that I found on the side of the road. Hobby Lobby had eight inch letters that were already painted white and a great price. The guestion then became, “how do I mount them on this chunky bed rail?”

For the top letters I stole ten of my grandkids square wood blocks. I drilled a hole in the bottom of each of them and glued the blocks on the bottom of the letters with wood glue.

I then cut a dowel rod into two inch pieces and placed them into the drilled holes.

I painted the rail a Robins Egg Blue to contrast with the white.

I then positioned my letters on the rail, marked the rail and then drilled holes in top of the rail. The bottom letters already had plastic hangers at the top so I just lined those up and marked the rail for their position.

I mounted the rail at the top front of the booth between the two dividing walls. Inserted my letters with the dowel rods on the top and screwed the letters into the bottom of the rail with wood screws. I now have a Marquee Style sign that truly stands out and hopefully draws folks into my booth to spend all their money.

So we went from a white and blank booth to .......

a booth with a sign that stands out.

What’s nice is that your sign can travel to your new location.
