I had ordered a full-length mirror. It arrived wrapped with two panels of styrofoam. The panels measured 56" X 17" X 1". I certainly wouldn't let these super panels go to waste. After consideration, I decided a panel of flowers for our bedroom would be perfect.
Original styrofoam panel.
I gave the styrofoam 2 coats of primer. Styrofoam is very porous and indented with small pin size holes. After applying the second coat of primer, I used a foam brush and dapped (as you would a stencil) the holes I could still see. I allowed the primer to dry thoroughly between coats. Then I began to apply the colored paint. I chose a light moss green to contrast slightly with our soft mint bedroom wall. This paint also took two coats.

I purchased, from Home Depot, a peel and stick decor of cherry blossoms made by Roommates. The decor came in 8 basic pieces. Included in the package were 6 cloth 3-dimensional large flowers and 12 extra stick on flowers of various sizes. Some of these were gathered into bunches of 2 or 3 flowers each. The bottom line is, you receive the material but you have to design the pattern and size yourself.

I began with the basic 8 pieces and then added more flowers and made some additional branches to increase the size of the decor. By standing the panel upright against a door, I was able to have a clear perspective. You are able to see from my picture I had placed most of the flowers. I still have some the 3-D cloth flowers, several stick-on flowers and the branches to incorporate. You are able to remove pieces and restick them which is most helpful.
I completed decorating the panel. I attached double sided picture hanging tape to the back - 3 to each side. Then I pushed the panel against the wall we had chosen. It stuck just fine.

This is the first thing I see when entering our bedroom. It brings a smile every time.
