I’ve obviously had a lot of experience painting furniture, but painting on a canvas was a whole different and new project for me. I’ve always love the idea. It’s way more portable and space efficient, so I figured I would give it a go!

I love the textured look, so I bought drywall mud in a container, which is super cheap.

I didn’t really have a way I was going with it till I started, and what I ended up doing reminded me of a sunset and the ocean’

It only took a couple of

hours to dry outside in the summer air, but I would ideally let it dry overnight before painting.

I used watercolour paints for the base colours

I used blue for the water look

Then I added a coral pink to the sky

Followed by a darker pink and yellow for the sun. This required quite a bit of water as well to blend the colours

I then added acrylic paint to give it more of an abstract look, and I used a painting knife to do this.

I call it a tortured sunset!

I really like what you did, but I'm not into abstract a lot, but I REALLY like it before the abstract.

    Awesome job

    Thank you

Great job you did here. For my water I think instead of the black accents, white would work for white caps at my house by the lake and a sailboat in distance. Thanks for the inspiration. And I never thought about mixing paint types.
