Trash to Treasure: Yard Sale Pinata to Fun Home Decor!

While yard sale shopping, I found this amazing pinata and COULD NOT HELP MYSELF! It was only $3 dollars, was in really good condition, and was dying to be transformed into a cute wall hanging.

Check out, below, how I turned this simple pinata into a fun wall hanging in just a few minutes with my Cricut and Xyron machines!

Here are the supplies you will need:

• pinata ($3 at a yard sale thank yeeewwwww very much!)
• Cricut Explore or Maker
• glitter cardstock
• patterned paper
• Xyron machine - I used the Creatopia (see notes below)
• white pen - I used Bic Wite Out
• assorted embellishments

Step 1: Measure across the pinata, then size the phrase/circle to fit and cut using your Cricut.

Once you have your main circle cut out, doodle around the outer edge. If you are like me and do not have a steady hand, go around the circle several times with the pen. It will look like you meant the lines to be "artsy"!

Step 2: Run the circle and the phrase through your Xyron. I used the Creatopia because of the size of the project.

Side Note: The Creatopia is a limited edition Xyron machine that is 12" across. If you ever see one for sale - GET IT! They still make refills for it but the machines are not available at retail. The size is PERFECT for large projects or doing multiple projects at once.

Step 3: Adhere your main circle to the BACK of the pinata (the stickers on the front were too big and I couldn't get them off without ruining the surface), then add the phrase and your embellishments.

And voila! In 3 simple steps, you can transform almost any pinata into some cute wall decor for your craft room, office or child's bedroom!
