What is the Tropical Home Decor?

According to Elle Décor’s Trend Alert, Tropical Leaves are the new favorites of designers. This interior decor was once restricted to beach themed rental units and has now flourished in popularity. Tropical decor has taken on a new sophisticated style. It mixes leafy patterns with polished metals and bright colors. And that's where we step in! We've pulled together some key decor pieces featuring the tropical influence that has us saying, Aloha to the warm weather style.

We think this decor is tropi-cool, don't you? Tropical themed designer wallpaper can be quite an investment if you're looking to incorporate this style into your home. Don't pack away your passports just yet! Inspired by a tropical vacation, our stencil designer hand drew our Palmetto Leaf Wall Art Stencil. Armed with a wall stencil, paint, and visions of a tropical trend, we recreated this look in our studio. To pull off the perfect style, we painted the wall a soft-white, similar to Benjamin Moore's acadia white AC-15. Then we added a creamy white sofa and coffee table with brass accents.
To enhance our white wall, we painted the Palmetto Leaf Wall Art Stencil in a color similar to Benjamin Moore's floradale isle 581 using a dense foam roller.
Painter's tape was used to hold the stencil in place and the Clip-on Stencil Level was used to ensure the pattern was positioned straight on the wall.
To space out the wall art stencil, the the wall was measured and painters tape was used as markers prior to painting each leafy pattern.
To pull the space together, a nature print was hung on the wall above the sofa. Gold and leafy decor accessories were added to the coffee table.
Every sofa needs accent pillows. Easily create DIY accent pillows with a tropical flair using Paint-A-Pillow. Paint-A-Pillow kits include everything you need to create one gorgeous accent pillow so this was an easy project.
The Bermuda Breeze, Virgina Creeper, and the Fern Paint-A-Pillow stencils are perfect for this trend. We paired the white pillow cover with Jacquard Fabric paint in olive green and apple green.
