I needed a designated place to sit and take off snow boots and put on my mowing shoes, so I came up with this idea for a bench when I did my garage makeover.
Just to give you perspective, this is what the area looks like after I painted the walls and the floor. If you want to see the mayhem that was my garage before I made it over, click here.
Painters tape on bench to mark the stripes
I bought a 2x12 inch wide piece of Douglas Fir at the lumber yard and they cut it down to 36 inches for me. I used some leftover dark walnut stain I had laying around, and gave it a good coat.

I attached some hairpin legs to the underside, using leftover wood screws I had.

Using painters tape, I played around with the stripes until I had it where I liked it.
paint drying
Using some leftover white paint, I gave the stripes a good thick coat, careful not to go over the tape into the areas I wanted to keep stained.

After an hour, I peeled off the tape, and let it dry completely.
It works perfect in my little drop zone area!
I don't have any sealer or poly on it. Once it was dry, it was good to go! If you'd like to read the full post, click on over at the link below the article.
