Small Bench Update With Paint and Stencil

This little bench was brought to me by a customer who wanted her old bench updated. Actually, the bench isn't really old. It's rather new and from Ballard Designs. But it has seen better days for sure.
The bench is a simple black with red edges but the top has some damage on it that needs to be addressed.
The entire bench is sanded paying extra attention to that damaged area.
The Ballard Designs sticker is also removed from underneath icon
The desk is flipped over and painted underneath first, then the top is painted. The entire desk is painted in a dark gray chalk type paint. You can find great quality furniture paint online HERE.
Next, the desk is painted in a lighter shade of gray. When the edges are distressed I want to see the darker gray underneath and not that red or black from the original finish.
A French stencil is applied on the little bench. It just so happens to fit perfectly.
The edges are lightly distressed revealing that first coat of darker gray, and the bench is sealed for protection.
The stencil adds just a little bit of personality. You can find a more detailed tutorial for applying stencils to painted furniture here: How to Create Fabulous Painted Furniture with Stencils
