A “FAN-tastic” Coatrack

It’s always hard when you have a fan that you are replacing and the 2nd hand stores don’t want the old one even when it’s in great working condition. I can’t throw anything out, so I took the fan apart and when I did the “aha” moment happened. This project cost me $0 since I had everything in our shop, or should I say stash!

So do you see the metal parts of the fan? I also found an old cupboard door that I had in my stash and I was ready to go!

I spray painted the metal with this Rust-oleum spray paint a couple of times.

There was a button plug missing from the door so I found a baggy with spare ones. I used wood glue to attach it with and stained it a matching color to the door.

I then wiped down the door with this product. Love it!

Since it was a cupboard door I used the existing screw holes to add the D hooks.

When the fan brackets were dry I screwed them on and here she is! I think the hooks kind of look like stirrups too don’t you?! Wouldn’t this be great in a horse barn to hang your ropes or bridles!

So, I just wasn’t loving it. I painted on a coat of a medium toned gray paint and dry brushed black paint over that.

Added the black hooks back on.

And voila! Much more modern. I’m loving it now.

I really love this idea. So much more attractive than hooks to hang your horse tack, if you have horses. Thank you for sharing your unique idea.

Very original. Smart way to use those fan metal pieces.
