Long hall way

Question

I have almost a 35ft long hall way. It has wood floors. Anybody have any suggestions on how to decorate it so it doesn't look like a lane in a bowling alley.

It really depends on how wide it is, and whether there are windows or doors along the way. If you could post a picture taken from each end it would help.

Have you thought about opening up the wall on one side of the hall side and putting in shallow shelving in between the studs..some with doors to provide storage (perhaps for canned goods) and some without doors to hold small treasures you love to see. You could even put a wind glass holder in one section...perhaps a section of candles, one for beautiful blue Ball jars to hold candies, rice, dried beans, etc. This would not be difficult to do and would add a tremendous amount of storage for your home. You could even drill holes in a shelf and put wine bottles upside down for a wine cabinet! You would be limited only by your imagination!

Personally I would buy as many small rugs as you have doors and place them in front of each one. Make them all the same or all the same color. I can see stripes going the opposite direction of the wood in your floor. Then be sure to place wall art strategically to draw the eye away from the hallway. I think it would be beautiful and you would enjoy your hallway much more.

Barbara N I saw where another person had a long dark hallway and she put a small sofa table at the end of the hall way and then hung a old window above it with milk glass so you could not see the wall and put led lights behind the window. It looked super and brighten her dark hallway.

Use the end of hallway for a focal point piece of furniture.  Also, I would almost kill for all that display area for family pictures.  You could shine a spotlight on the loved ones.
