How about something like this. It gives you a place to sit to take off shoes and baskets to hide them. Drawers could be used for hats and gloves.

Clutter? Add crates( 2 or 3 wide by 2 high) and stack two on top of each other then add wood on top to form a table to sit purse, gloves etc. while you take off your shoes. Add a piece of wood on the wall above with a few hooks to accommodate keys hats and gloves.
You can add a piece of wood in the middle of the crates to form a shelf so you can double your shoe storage capacity.
There’s lots of suggestions on this website -but start with how wide of a space you have to work with. My daughter has everyone take their shoes off and she got a shelf from Walmart and that barely fits, but it works. ABout three feet above she hung a store bought 4 hook (hang on studs) strip for coats and jackets. This works and takes up about a foot plus 6 inches for shoes not making into the slot.
You could get bins to store the shoes in so that they are hidden when they are not in use.
