Console Table - Before & After

3 Materials
6 Hours

I have a fun furniture before and after for you here. This was a beautiful table before I got my hands on it, but now it's a fun POP of color that will make the whole room a little more fun. Let me show you how I painted it and teach you all about top coats!

This table has a distressed finish complete with worm holes and all.

I prepped this piece as I always do. But first I took some 120 grit sand paper and smoothed out the rough spots on the table top. I used a 220 grit to scratch up the finish so the paint would have something to stick to. I used denatured alcohol and water in a 50-50 mix to clean the piece. Prep work is important!

I mixed Persimmon Milk Paint with a little Antique White to get this bright color. It took 3 coats to achieve this color.

Then, it was time to apply a topcoat. Topcoats aren't always necessary over Milk Paint, but my client wanted an extra layer of protection and a little more shine.

Head over to my blog to see a video all about top coats. I'll teach you everything you need to know about choosing the right top coat! Plus there's a video on how I did this color mix and links to all the products I used...

And just like that, this table is finished! See, I told you it was a bright POP of a fun color.
