Dividing an Open Floor Plan

This is my living room before we moved in. The trouble Im having is ideas on HOW to properly divide up the space to make the best of it. I have 2 square tower bookcases, 1 long couch, 2 long loveseats, a chair with oversized ottoman and a shaker glide rocking chair. I also have a long hopechest I use as a coffee table and a thin occasional table as well as a large square side table that is eclectic.
We have LONG taupe muslin Ikea curtains hanging from both windows just below the ceiling. It really makes the room look majestic.
The back livingroom wall. We put a rustic dark brown burnt distressed piece of wood up as the mantle and a square slate chalk board with verses on it above. But this shows the space we have to work with.
The wall opposite the bar. Door to our bedroom on the far right. A lot of space to try and decorate.
Unfortunately, we only have 2 stools. We have 7 kids ages 1-13 but we cant afford to fork the bill for a matching set to fit our fabulous bar. At one point we had our chair in the nook area there. The drop down flourescent light bug me
Our entryway. We have black Ikea lanterns hanging above inbetween each window at the moment and rods above the windows for curtains. The door there on the R is used as a food pantry. Not much space for 9 people to hang coats and shoes.
This was what we did for Thanksgiving. The shelf and TV are no longer there and the tables are back in the diningroom (of course) with couches there instead. You can see our homemade mantle and that picture is where the mirror is now.
Again on Thanksgiving. You can see the tall curtains and the hubby under the mantle he made loving on our youngest son.
These are a few of our couches and our occasional table. Interestingly we got all for $150 and the chair was found for free on craigslist the day before we found the couch, loveseat and ottoman at goodwill. Bookcases are still there.
This was how we had the chair at one point. I homeschool my girls so we used it for some of our lessons. It really stuck out into the walkway to the back sliding door, though.so I moved the chair... and left the shelves where they are.

Have you thought of placing a eat in kitchen area in that area by the nook then just using it as a reading area using just one love seat or chair to separate kids when teaching? Once you have counter high stools then a table behind that so you don't have to eat in dining room then use left over sofa and love seats or chair and love seat by fire place. Once you place those cabinets inside nook into other areas of floor plan and use sofa table behind it should be more full don't use carpet under table but get a large carpet for living room by fireplace. Hope it helps.
