Add flair to your outdoor space with this easy DIY welcome mat!

Outdoor welcome mats are a quick and inexpensive way to add customized decor or a fun message to welcome visitors and guests. I decided to make one that would be used to help cut down on the dust and dirt in our camper.

There are all sorts of ways to customize a welcome mat. You can add some fun sayings to welcome your guests or add a funny quote. You can make one for the holidays or even make it more decorative with no words and just a colorful design.

Start out with a coir door mat and chosen spray paint color.

I created my stencil and cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo. Then I centered it and applied it to the mat. The contact paper didn't stick very well to the mat so you may want to use vinyl instead. Use newspaper to help protect the rest of the mat from getting spray paint on it.

I applied a few coats of black spray paint to the stencil and let it dry.

I did have a problem with some of the letters curling up. I used a chopstick to hold those parts in place while I spray painted. Again if you use vinyl it may stick better. The coir material doesn't make for the best material to adhere to. Once it was dry I removed the stencil and it was ready to go.

The possibilities are endless for designs. Come visit the link at the end of the post for the FREE SVG and PNG file.
