How To Make Baseboards Chunkier - Easy Fix

An easy fix to make wimpy, builder grade baseboards look thicker and chunkier. No crow bars needed ...
My baseboard were wimpy. Those cheap builder grade baseboards that were popular in the 90's.
When we decided to install a faux board and batten wall treatment in our dining and living rooms, we knew the wimpy baseboards would't work. Our battens would just look like they were floating. I also didn't want to bother with a crow bar to pull all the old baseboards up. So I came up with an easy fix.
I just used these three pieces of MDF and added them over the existing baseboard. That's right, I just nailed them right onto the old baseboards.
The 1 x 2 and decorative moulding piece covered the gap and finished it off.

Great idea. Love the no removal idea. Thanks for inspiration. FYI the builders grade trim package was never popular but least expensive materials. Most homeowners planned to upgrade at time of purchase, as budget allowed
