My father and I installed engineered hardwood on a concrete subfloor in north Tx. This is my home. We also painted the walls and have the living and dining space a new look :) Check it out
This is a before shot of the hall way. All carpet All nasty lol. We just bought this house. Not out mess lol
this living room looks so small because of the carpet and the linoleum in the dining room. Not to mention the ugly green walls lol
we stripped off all the base boards and cleaned them up. Gave them a fresh coat of paint
My dog was not to happy. He live to lay on the soft Carpet. Sorry buddy
After taking the carpet out i stripped the carpet tack board that ran along the out side. That part was tough. I use a hammer and a cheap pry bar from harbor freight.
I put all my Big furniture in the middle of the room and covered it with this plastic so when I paint theybwouls stay clean. Looks like I got the delorian from back to the future under there haha
while the paint dried we opened the boxes to let the material acclimate to the inside conditions to avoid any swelling or movement due to the humidity
These floors are tounge and groove. NOT click. We are going to glue each joint and make the floor float over the concret. Its going to take some time because we are going to be cleaning up all extra glue as we go. this will insure the floors look great and strong.
Here we separated all the different sizes of the wood to make sure we didnt use up all of our small pieces fast. The small pieces help us break up the joints so we get a more random patteren. we also use this time to shuffle up the boxes so the color verys thru the whole installment
Here we are dry laying are very first two 3 rows that we are going to put down. We are doin this to make sure we dont have any joints that meet up to close.

We also started in the hall way because thats the point in the house we wanted to be the strightest. The rest of the house can go off of this point and work our way out.
Here is a time lapes of the meat of the project. After we would glue about 4 rows we would stick a bit piece of tape on it to make sure the boards dont pull apart.
Here it is all finished with the base boards back on. It really came out great.
it was alot of work make sure you get knee pads and if clean clean clean, if you dont get the glue up you screwed haha.
Next stop the kitchen LOL good greif

I put tile down in the kitchen and dining area. Of course I screweddown backer board prior to laying tile. Its been several years, and now the tile is really starting to break. If i put down a floating floor should I take the backer board up prior to instalation?

I want to put down wood in my kitchen. It has Comercial carpet glued down now. Can I lay the wood over the carpet? I'm not sure I can even get it up as I don't know what kind of adhesive they used. Thanks

Great job! That looks really nice. Nice that you were able to get help. And your dog looked like a good supervisor.
