They need to be properly grouted and sealed.
Does the home have any sort of warranty ? This is a floor that is compromised and needs repair . If you're stuck doing it yourself , this may help

Pick up some poly grout from Home depot and grout the entire floor.
First assess if there's any damage. If not, then you can grout and seal. The travertine must be sealed also because it is pourous. Used in a powder room and would deep clean and reseal about every two to three years. Great look.
