As long as the floor is even yes

It can be done, but just be aware that it will raise the height of the floor and that may affect where it connects to other rooms. Wishing you the best.

The manufacturer of your new tile will recommend installation over old tile or not.

I've seen this done (my bathroom) where the pattern and any flaws in the old vinyl telegraphed through the new tile. Ruined the floor's appearance. It's just not that difficult to remove old vinyl so why not do a job that will make you proud?

Use your blow dryer to heat up the old tiles one at a time and they will pry up easily. Your new floor will look much better.

It can be done but I don't recommend it.

If you are replacing your ceramic tile because the old flooring is loose or coming up... removing it is the best course of action... then the new floor will adhere properly

NOTE; If the old linoleum tiles are less than 12 in X 12 inch in size... they may contain asbestos.. and you should have them tested before you try and remove them. Sometimes you can "encapsulate" them like with the cement tile backer and the thin set... but you want to check before you do that too.

Thanks all for your comments, but the existing tile are ceramic, not vinyl so not sure your answers apply to my question !
