Can you put laminate wood floors over ceramic tiles?

This house I am interested in has almost all ceramic tile floors which I hate. Would love wood or laminate wood. Does anyone know? I know its a huge process to take up the tile floor just not sure of the expense. Thanks in advance

Theoretically, yes; however, the laminate will add about 1/4" height so you need to consider how/if that will work for you. Check with your local floor covering installers for a final answer.

You'd need to level the floor grout lines to the height of the tile. Then laminate can be put down. Good luck.

Hi Sandy, yes, you can lay engineered-wood or laminate flooring over tile if the tile is in decent shape. Loose, cracked tiles will cause your install to fail.
