I would use hot a hot glue gun and make squiggly lines and it would be skid proof.
There's a product called seam seal that is used to mend technical outdoor gear. You can buy it at outdoor stores like REI. This works very well as a non-skid. Small dots is all you need. It adheres well to fabrics and is not bulky.

I saw a video on here about using the hot glue gun but i also seen the silicone being used to i was having trouble finding it , i know you can use the silicone for stopping rip's and fraying out old area rugs but it showed it being used for a non skid on the back of rugs to.
I maintain 5 preschools for almost 450 children, where the carpets have to be taped AND the floors need to be waxed semiannually. Carpet tape works great but takes forever to remove to wax the floors. I can't wait to try silicon! I'll report the results soon.
