the answer depends on the manufacturer/brand. Not all laminates are created equal. You should probably check their website on how to rejuvenate.
You may be able to buff the scratches out, or ttry paste wax.
No laminate is not real wood its a graphic layer applied to a wood fiber product. You will only remove the wood graphic and have a disaster.
Laminate flooring (also called floating wood tile in the United States) is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product fused together with a lamination process.Laminate flooring simulates wood (or sometimes stone) with a photographic applique layer under a clear protective layer.
Not all brands are the same. You get what you pay for. Some laminate flooring is just about 1/16" to 1/8" of wood veneer on the surface. The rest is secondary wood that is bonded in alternate directions for stability like plywood. The surface has a heat bonded coating of resins for durability. Some have enough material that can be sanded and refinished. Others can't.
Thanks for the answers; we bought this home with the floor down and don't know manufacturer or age...so in a bit of a pickle with your answers. Might be best to not touch it.
