How do I get rid of this disgusting swirl ceiling without breaking my budget? We have tried to scrape it down but it seems to be plaster. HELP!

It is either plaster or drywall compound. Covering it is the only solution. You can use anything you like to cover it. There is 4 'x 10' 1/4" thick drywall made for this purpose. The 10' length allows for less seams rather than the standard 8' length.

    Have you tried sanding?

Removal can be messy. If I had those ceilings I would do what this guy has done! He should patent it!

No, we thought about it but if we were going to go that route we would just put new drywall up and make that mess lol
