I mov to my house and the carpet was terribly worn. I ripped it all out and am now living on a cement slab. I am looking for an inexpensive yet attractive solution for a finish or covering.

You could put down vinyl tiles that stick to the floor. They are inexpensive, you can do it yourself, and they wear well. I have used them on my basement bathroom and laundry room floor. You would have to put some adhesive primer on the floors first but you can just roll it on with a paint roller. You could also do a floating floor with flooring that is made for basements.

We installed multi-colored slate over ours. Any tile you like would work. It appears you have a nice level surface to work with.

Floor paint comes in many variations now - not just single color. Go exploring at Home Depot and Lowes and you might be surprised!
