Flooring, wood look tile

Has anyone used the wood look tile flooring? Just the idea of easy clean up makes me tempted to do it throughout the house. Are they cold on your feet, have you used the undertile heating systems that are popular for tiled bathroom floors? Thanks for any and all comments!!

We have them in our bedrooms. They are very easy to clean and we use throw rugs.

  • Depends on where you live and how cold it gets. I would certainly invest in heated flooring if it is cold. Hard on the feet legs and back if you have arthritis. Get the pro gel mats for the kitchen.

  • They would be cold, just like any would be without in floor heat for the winter cold months. Another Avenue you could do that would be more cost-effective is luxury vinyl planks. HERE IS a post I wrote when we installed them in our lower level basement floor. That was a year ago and we're super happy with them. This particular style you can put heated floor underneath. I do recommend getting a higher-end luxury vinyl plank like this one that I wrote about some other versions of it haven't had good reviews.

Any tile will be cold on your feet so if that's a problem, heat them. That'll make you and your house much more comfortable. Have the installer pit in two thermostat thinhies...if the one you use goes out then you have a backup.

Love, love wood look tile - and yes - they work great with under tile heating systems! They are cool, just like regular tile. Great inthe summer. I use area rugs on top, just like I would if I had wood floors.

Thanks everyone. As a followup, has anyone used the under floor heating system enough to say how long it lasts? 5yrs, 10 yrs?? Would hate to install sand then have to pull floor up bc it fails.

    thanks
