The open case mouldings were cut much higher than 3/4". Has anyone fixed an issue like this and if yes, how? Shoe moulding seems odd in an open case door frame.
You will want to get all the poly up before trying to do anything to restore. I would try fine steel wool at the edges of the peeled sections to blend it in. Then use a product like Rejuvenate. It worked wonders on our old floors.
I agree, the peeling poly will have to be removed. If your floors were finished by a company, I would contact them about the problem.
I have used Rejuvenate on several items and think it is a waste of money. Not seeing a difference.
No way around it. The poly would have to sanded off. so new poly can be put on. You can use an oscillating floor sander just to remove the poly.
Whether you're dealing with an old floor with deteriorating polyurethane or a newly refinished floor that hasn't dried properly, you have to remove the finish. You can do this by sanding with a drum sander -- use an orbital sander for older, warped floors -- or with chemicals, such as mineral spirits and other stain strippers. If you go the chemical route, make sure the room is well ventilated before you start. For best results, follow all instructions as directed by the manufacturer for any product you use.
This will unfortunately be quite a big job, depending on how much of this flooring you have. How old is the flooring? I ask because perhaps you need to contact the manufacturer to get some specific feedback on how to do this. Or is it possible it is still under warranty?
There is a need for yiu to get all the poly up before trying to do anything to restore. You may need to sand it off. Or if your floors was done a company, it is best to contact them.
All the poly has to come up, use an orbital sander for the smaller places or if your floors are uneven. Use a drum sander for more expansive areas.
That is very strange that the poly is peeling. I think your best bet for future success would be to sand and refinish.
Quick answer is NO!
Litzy sand by hand just the parts that are peeling then vacuumed it all up and paint varnish on it
regulate temp in the house , sand it off , fasten and coat again with stain or poly
