take up lino ,clean and sand under floor, paint and stencil

  • You could rip up the old linoleum and put down new. Or even get some of the tiles that look like wood. Paint and stencils seem to be on trend right now.

Either remove or cover over existing floor.

Tear brown paper into pieces the size of your hand spread wide open, brush on glue adhere to the floor over lapping somewhat once covered and dried, you can stain or paint it. Let that part dry. Seal and protect with polyurtane clear high gloss, 2 coat let dry between coat at least overnight. Beautiful work that your created. There's a little more to it than I may have typed up quickly, but check into different techniques on the web...hope you like, I loved my.

    Hi Debby,

The best thing to do is to strip whatever flooring you have down to your subfloor. However, you can put new sheet linoleum or even vinyl tile over your old floor. You will probably need to use a leveling compound to make the floor smooth, but it will be the least amount of prep work. The other issue you will need to contend with is the height of your floor. If you add another layer, you may also need new transitions strips from your new floor to the old floors outside your kitchen.
