You'll have to lay an uderlayment (plywood subfloor) over it. Height may become an issue with doors and trim. Best to remove baseboards first so they don't get buried. Think about it first, you'll be covering up a valuable natural product with an inexpensive plastic flooring that will not retain property value as does slate.
