I just had new porcelain floor tile put down in our family room, and I have noticed that by my patio door, there is a spot that has no grout. they mixed a special color to match the tile, but I am worried that by the door with a spot of no grout, the rest of the grout by the door will not stay in place.

Since it's an installation mistake rather than the result of wear and tear, my first thought would be to call the installer and insist they come back to fill in the missing grout. Grouting is easy, but matching the color could be tricky.

Thanks....he's a nice guy. I'll do that. My first impulse is always to fix things myself without asking for help. But its new...just a few weeks.

You would be correct that the surrounding grout will begin to break up , but because it's a new install you should DEFINITELY get the installer there Pronto to fix this .
