Try putting some talcum powder in the cracks in the noisy area.

Hi Sadie, Have someone under the floor that squeaks, while you walk on the floor at the same time. Once the squeaky boards are located, you can put wood shims between the board and the floor joyce. Pound them in good and snug. That should take care of your squeaks!

easiest thing is try a powder in the area. Not as easy is to access the floor from below and try adding some screws thru the sub floor into the wood floor above. Be careful, you don't want the screws going thru your wood floor.

usually squeaky board[s] are caused by the boards working loose over time of much use. The idea posted by Aljosjer is a good one; but you can also add nails from the top, make sure you tap them in just below the surface of the board, then fill the depression in with a matching wood putty, sand the dried putty lightly & touch up with a sealer or wax to blend it in.

Aljosjer and C.B suggestions are good. Baby powder won't last. What I did after removing carpeting. Especially in my hallway. I would locate where the squeaks are with my foot. Use a piece of painters tape to mark them. Then I would drill two 1/8" holes at an angle towards each other about one inch apart. Use 6 penny or 8 penny finish nails and pound them in the holes. Countersink the nails and use Minwax Blend Fil pencils to fill the holes. comes in all stain colors. The angle of the nails pulls the floorboard down and prevents it from moving.
