How to bring back luster to engineered hardwood floors?

I had to replace about 200sq feet of kitchen hardwood flooring but the finish is brownish and our old floors are a honey color. I would like to know how to restore hardwood floors without sanding to bring back their luster and help them blend in with the new floors?

I just used Rejuvenate high gloss restorer, available at Home Depot. I used the pad, which is known as the "bonnet" on my swifter dust mop. It was easy to do and it made a huge difference. We were considering refinishing...not anymore!

Rejuvenate is a great product. Fills in little imperfections and brings back the shine to your hardwood. It is available at Canadian Tire and Home Depot

I have been using a Norwex dry/wet mop on my 15 year old eng. hard wood floors. they too had lost their glow. The Norwex uses only water and is getting all the old build up off. It is amazing the difference

Bona's Refresh which you can purchase at big Box Store or Retail Flooring Dealers that are Bona Distributors. I also noticed Bona products at Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond. We are a flooring dealer and have been carrying these products for years.

We use Orange Glo. It cleans and feeds the wood. This makes all our furniture and floor look beautiful. There are many other uses for this product as well. Oils must be replaced in hardwood floors. : )

We have never had a problem with using Orange Glo on our floors. Most of our floors are natural wood just like our furniture, and it works great. We have been using this product for years. Our counter tops are solid wood that have been finished with tung oil as has my dining table and we use it on these too. Also, we don't have any of our wood with a polyurethane finish. =====I think a lot may depend on the quality of the engineered hardwood. Thanks though for your concern. : )

I was told to not use any dripping water on my urethane-finished floor. You need to know what finish is on it before you apply any restorer. I was also told to only use the specific shine restorer that came with the floor, or at least one with the same basic ingredients. The floor installer said not to use vinegar or oil products.
  • I personally swear by the Bona products. You have a bunch of excellent suggestions here. I am sure several will work for you. Good luck!

Check the instructions that came with the flooring. Some products may harm your flooring.

My floors are 3/4" hardwood and I found an amazing product at Walmart (Home Depot also has)to restore worn polyurethane - its callled Rejuvenate. You just apply with microfiber mop. Looks like I had the floors refinished!

I know it seems strange, but all those chemicals leave a film. Norwex cleans with only water - no fumes or residue. You use a damp mop - no dripping water and the results are amazing. My floors look better than they have in years.
