Sanding away the burnt area is the only way to get rid of the marks. Sand and then refinish.
If it is urgent then a paint pen can camouflage it, until you do something more thorough later.

I'm not sure how big the area is you're talking about. If it's a cigarette size burn you could try (if it's not too deep) sanding just that spot with a 120 or 220 grit sand paper until most of it's gone. You can purchase wood color markers for repairing wood scrapes. They work great and are almost permanent so starting with the lightest color apply some to the area. Go darker as needed to blend in. To finish and protect it use a small brush and apply some poly coating.
