Hi. I want to remove popcorn from my bedroom ceiling and hide fan wire
Want to hide fan wire in concrete ceiling and attach it behind shitrock to electric outlet. Any tips on how to remove a popcorn ceiling?
Oh . a big putty/scraper. Had replaced popcorn ceiling once. Have drop cloth for ceiling and repainting. Spread drop cloth or plastic on area as you work in room.

Spray sections with warm water, let it sit for a few minutes and then scrap it off with a putty knife. Be CAREFUL scraping as it is easy to nick the sheet rock under the texture as you go because everything will be soft and wet. If the texture has been painted it will be a lot harder to get off. Make sure and cover every single surface beneath your ceiling lol this is a messy job and the texture is going to get everywhere.
This is a huge PAIN to do! First, it's really only feasible if the popcorn hasn't been painted over since being sprayed on. If it has, you will likely damage huge areas of the drywall attempting to remove it. If you're still intent on removal, it may be worth hiring someone who has insurance to cover any problems.eThis is a huge PAIN to do! If the popcorn has not been painted over, spread plastic drop cloths on the floor to protect it. You must spray down the popcorn with water and find out the time needed for yours to soften - trial and error. Using a wide scraper, scrape the softened popcorn off - it'll drop on the floor. The trick is to leave the spray on long enough to soften it without wetting the underlying drywall.
This is a pretty long process that will exhaust your arms with them being over your head! Definitely only do one room at a time. I removed 1 room, had a contractor do 2 others and chose to leave the rest lol!
THANK YOU! Unfortunately, it was painted over when I moved in to the place 5 years ago. I have a huge area to do, so once I start there is no place to stop! But I so dislike the popcorn!
