Is there a way that I can cover up the ceiling of my basement? :)

I rent a home with an unfinished basement. It's such an eye sore. Are there any ideas you can suggest as to perk it up? Coverage of approx. up to 1200 sq. feet basement ceilings. Thank you!

I had a friend who stapled up drop cloths to the ceiling rafters in his basement. Made it feel cozy.

Drop cloths are large, bright and affordable. You could be artistic and paint sky, birds, tree canopies or just allow it to be there.

Check with the owner or the management company before you do anything in a rental. Even though you may only be stapling something up, you are still putting holes in the wood. Maybe he would be willing to do something in the basement if you help and put in some sweat equity. Just a suggestion. I rented a huge early 1900's house for about 15 years and the owner told me to treat it like it was my house, even putting veggie garden in back yard, but the management tried to charge me to take out the garden after I moved out.

Check with the landlord, but just spray painting it a light color helps. If not, I like the cloth idea or you can try those styrofoam ceiling tiles.
