Call a pro. You are dealing with asbestos which must be disposed of properly. If you cut corners you will be sorry.
Hi Pam, well that depends on your definition of easy. The ceiling material is fairly easy to scrape off. It's just a really messy job. Popcorn ceilings were done so that a lot of construction time was not needed to tape and float the ceilings. So, you may need to retape. But once done, you've updated your house. Good luck.

Hi Pam! It's not hard to do but it is a tedious and messy job. I've done more popcorn removal than I care to remember. It is very rewarding to get rid of that pesky stuff if it really bugs you! Asbestos was only used prior to a certain date. Research that date. After that, scraping and/or misting with water to soften, then just a HUGE MESS>
