LVT and laminate flooring?

It depends on what flooring is already there. If the existing floor is clean and in good shape, you can put the LVT down over it. The same goes for the laminate. If the existing floor is level and smooth, you can put the new flooring over it.

I’d do LVP for the whole space. It makes the space seem larger and it’s way more durable than laminate. Won’t peel or swell after time!

Hello. It’s your personal choice but if you have an open floor plan it might be best to use one or the other for consistently and a natural pleasing appearance.

Agree with Vimarhonor. If you don't want a choppy look run one type of flooring throughout. It will give you the illusion of the space looking bigger. Plus floors that change from room to room tend to look very busy.

Once you remove the existing floor, it will depend on the condition of the subflooring. You might have to put down new plywood. If so, try luan which will not add much height.

Then you are ready to install the new flooring.

Proceeding will depend on the type of flooring you purchase and if it needs to be snapped in place, hammered, glued. The best thing is to refer to the manufacturer's website.

I am actually planning on doing the same thing. I have decided on Shaw LVT flooring. It is 100% waterproof, and my niece had it put in entire house. It looks great. Just make sure you go for a good quality flooring. Armstrong also makes a good floor. You do not want to go cheap and have to do this again.
