Hello! I am in major need of what to do with my living room. I am looking for an area rug to match my throw pillows. I also don't know what to accent with. Here is a picture of the wall color and pillow covers

From the pictures it appears you have a couple of blues and greens in the room. I would base your decision on bringing that into your room as accent.

Ok . So heres my thought . Everyones taste is different. In my opinion your room needs some color .I suggest starting with wall art.Once you find what you like then the next step will come into play. Nobody can or has the right to tell you colors. We are here for suggestions. Until you figure out what you are thinking then we can help based on your taste.

Hi Amanda! Since you are using the pillows as your inspiration, then it appears that neutrals would be your choice. You have so many options from the colors in your pillows. Gray walls, white sofas and silver accents (and your black frames) is one direction, or tan walls with gold or copper accents would work equally as well with the pillow fabric. Before you choose a wall color, find the rug you love that complements the pillows. That will point you in the right direction.

Must be something about Sues. I was going to say the same thing. I personally prefer the Grey option.

What about a large seagrass mat or sissal mat from Rugs USA? It would look great on that gorgeous wooden floor (saw one at this Pinterest link: http://www.creeklinehouse.com/2013/09/a-big-c...). Or even a colourful Mexican rug? And perhaps a large potted plant against that blank wall piece opposite the couch. Perhaps an Umbrella 'tree'; they can be kept quite short and they have great foliage. Your colours do speak of the seaside to me, so maybe a few shadow boxes on gthe walls with shell collections. Your home looks very light, open and airy so you wouldn't want too much dark or heavy stuff. The options endless... Good luck. Make sure you send an 'After' photo. :)

I like the idea of the large seagrass rug, you can layer your existing rug on top.

I would put down a sisal rug and partially cover with a cowhide, extending over toward the Windows. Put drapery on Windows .

I like the brightness of the room, and it's neutral enough to bring in this hit of mint and gray. It also plays on the Maraca style medallions in the pillows, and the pictures on the wall. Found at Wayfair.com SKU: FV35121

You need texture (baskets etc) and a pop of color such as red or orange

I'd use something that contains two colours, like tan and white or grey and white. There are a lot of nice two-coloured modern style rugs nowadays with geometric prints that would look nice in any room. Here is an example of a grey and white one. Happy decorating! https://www.theshoppingchannel.com/search/rug...

I agree with Ginsum. What is it used for. Do you own or rent. Permanent placements?! I would move the birch tree canvas and replace it where the two medallion canvas' are now, into the dining room. Also, if no children, replace the two matching chairs in front of the sofa under the birch canvas. Add a wood end table between them. Also, the rug, try a circle type or the cow hide. Break up the rectangle spots that seem to be in control. Get a gray, orange, mint green lamp shade, replace with a slightly larger lamp stand. Not wooden. Possibly acrylic. Dollar stores have them. Your call. Borrow from friends to move and play with your design. Curtains, yes. Not to dark or light. Put rod all the way to just under the crown molding. Circle fennels. Put that rug under your nice metal dining table. It is a lot. Hope some of this helps. Ramona H. - MS.

You have green outside the windows and green on your walls. Pick up that color in your pillows and rugs.

A black area rug with a large print would look good.
