Self-leveling cement on epoxy to fix basement concrete floor?

Hi group! I have a badly cracked basement floor (concrete slab). I reinforced the slab with carbon fiber anchors (stitching) and sealed those and the crack with a high-strength, dual component Epoxy. So far so good...

Since the floor needs some leveling as well, I am wondering if it would work to use a Portland-based cement product + primer (like most self-leveling floor products) on top of it. My concern is the epoxy used to fill the crack and cuts in the floor and a lack of adhesion to the self-leveling cement poured on top.

If self-leveling concrete is not an option, what are the alternatives to level the floor? More epoxy?

Thanks for your opinions/experience!

I would get some "free" estimates and see what the experts say before doing anything else. At least you will know if this is a do it yourself job or you need professionals.

  • I would check with a contractor who specializes in concrete.

Self leveling cement is used to level a floor for flooring installation. It's not intended to be left on it's own. If you don't intend to cover the floor with any type of flooring then I suggest using a concrete resurfacer which also is self leveling. It's used for covering cracked, damaged, pitted and spalled concrete.

I would use hydraulic cement use the powder kind and mix your self if you make it a little loose it will level out you level it best you could it will finish it .Ps it dries fast so work fast if it starts to dry add water quick just a little mix and add more make it loose so by time it hardens it normal to use.

You can use the self leveling if you are going to tile over the concrete.

Try Sika. I think it may be the easiest way to solve your problem.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have concluded to go with the self-leveling compound after some surface prep and priming. Will let you know how it turns out.

  • Before you do anything, you might have a pro out to take a look at the reasons for the big splits to begin with. It could be something that needs to be addressed before you do anything else, otherwise anything you do will end up falling apart.

  • I personally think that it is best to check with a contractor who specializes in concrete.

I had a few experiences myself with these guys and was absolutely pleased with their job.
