Had our hardwood floors refinished. The finish is “Swedish”...but is more dull than the shiny look I like. Any experience or suggestions?

Hello Bernice, My only suggestions to live with it for a while, it could grow on you. You won't see the blemishes so much or the dust. You could always add a snazzy Rug or Mat to draw the attention.............

Thank you John..it’s been close to a year and I have grown used to it,until I see a shiny floor!🤪I do see dust, crumbs, and cat hair anyway..and I have area carpets galore...oh well! Yes I guess I can and will live with it. 😽

We are bad. I use a floor finish after cleaning. It will cause build up in time. But I like shines floors also.

What sort of finish do you have on your floors? I was reading about the many different treatments nowadays. Seems way back when, not too far back, lacquer was used and other stuff which caused explosions and deaths. 😳 Wow! At least Some new stuff is much better than “in the good old days” .scary....

    Hello Bernice

You will not regret it........... If you put a clear liquid polish on your floor to make it shine, you WILL regret it! if not today, if not tomorrow then when the floor starts to wear where the traffic is most. I know because my aunt used liquid polish for years. She would go over it everytime she lost the shine she loved. In the end the floor had such a build up on the outside areas of her room, it looked Dirty and no matter what you did it looked dirty, so dirty it began to look filthy, it had to go. .......Floor Polish just leaves a build up, as does furniture polish. It really needs to be stripped back to reveal the genuine finish from time to time, and that can become a bind. Over the years, I have learned to live with and accept many things. I don't want worry or concern myself over things I cannot alter, instead I look to alter things I can to make a difference for the better, I laugh at my mistakes, it makes me easier to live with ..............There are many folk who are not as lucky as us! ......... Best wishes....

Thank you John..yes the build up would bother me greatly. Decades ago I was in the Air Force; we would have white glove inspections on fridays. Those who did the hall floors with wax, never waxed within 1 inch of the wall , Because of the buildup, and having to get rid of the buildup with a razor blade. You’re right,I dont want to repeat that! 🤪 thanks again. I will worry.... but about other things! 🤔🤪
