How can I change my popcorn ceiling to a rustic look?

We have popcorn,yes I have popcorn ceiling on - It is peeling off it I want to try some kinda rustic look. Help

If the popcorn is peeling... and you have an older home.... check to make sure the popcorn does not contain asbestos... have it tested.... AND if it is peeling off... there is a reason for that... popcorn comes off due to moisture.... you need to find out if you have a water leak in an upper floor... or in your roof if the house is one story... ... once you know WHY it is peeling... why not just go ahead and scrape it all off.... NOT hard... just a pain in the ass.... and tedious.... then you can cover over it with Venetian plaster, bead board, ship lap (or similar) or faux tin ceiling tiles (the real deal is way too expensive)... all can be painted or finished as you like.... Pinterest.com will have some ideas for that.
HomeAdvisor.com or Angieslist.com can help you find some one to assist you with finding out why the popcorn is peeling, and removing the popcorn if you do not want to do it yourself... and putting up whatever you choose as a final finish.
You could plank the ceiling right over the popcorn.
