What are my options to change a black marble floor?

The entryway is black marble, columns are black paint. Makes everything so dark. Would prefer beige or white, light and bright. What are some elegant options other than having the floor re-tiled?

Providing the floor is level you can put vinyl planking or Laminate flooring right over the tile

Leave the floor as is and use complementary colours for your columns and walls. I am told Marble usually has blues and purple or taupe/greige undertones some have a hint of green. Look at your marble and see which undertones you have, then look for cool neutrals greys and blue, green purple, use light to medium colors but don't go dark it will compete too much with the floor and don't go creams they have yellow undertones that don't look so good with marble. Hope this is a starting point for you to get started. Good luck.

Brilliant; bring out the subtle undertones on the columns. Thank you so much.

  • I would repaint the colums for sure! Then find an area rug and place over the marble. That way most of the black marble would be covered up with the black ating as a border accent? I would look for a round or oval rug. Break up all the straight lines.
