How about painting stars on it with glow in yhe dark paint?
Unless you want to spray glue on the faces and apply wallpaper or gift wrap or very light fabric,
painting them is it. Be careful to not saturate them. They’re felted.
I would remove the panels, remove the frames, plaster the holes, and paint.
Aspect tile has all kinds of drop ceiling panels in various designs.
Take down the tiles and spray paint them. Metallic could be cool, whether all the same color of metallic or different colors. Assorted bright colors could be fun for a playroom. Matte black for a media room could be useful. Bright white for a craft room would reflect light.
If you don't want to spray paint, cover them with fabric remnants to look like a patchwork quilt. Just cut the fabric larger than the tile, wrap it toward the back, and secure with either sequin pins or staples. If you use thin fabric, they should go back into the spaces fairly easily, though you might have to trim the outside edges of the last rows.
It wouldn't be cheap, but you could replace the tiles with pegboard cut to size and add lighting above the ceiling so the light comes through the holes in the pegboard. Saw a wall done like that once and it looked pretty amazing. I think it was just Christmas lights behind it.
Depending on what is above the dropped ceiling, you could choose to simply remove it for a more industrial look.
