How to Care for Fall Mums

We grow over 250,000 mums at our nursery...here some tips for selecting and caring for the best and longest fall color.
You don't need to feed your fall mums when you take them home in the fall, but feed them in the spring when they start to put on new growth.
The difference between Fall Asters and Fall Mums is their hardiness and available colors. Asters are hardy to zone 4 but Mums have many more colors to choose from.
Fall mums can be planted in the garden, but there is a few things you need to know to be successful. ***LEARN A TRICK TO PICKING MUMS THAT WILL LAST 4-6 WEEKS LONG IN THE LINK BELOW!!***

Also from this mum, I had a stem break and I stuck it in a pot and watered all summer and it now is loaded with blooms. Someone told me about this and I was leary, but it is true. So if you break any stems while planting don't throw them away or if one or two stems break during the growing season, stick it in the ground or pot and water.

I too am wondering how soon they can be cut off. My husband wants them off before it snows but they are still green and looking fine.
